Denver Zoo

Located next to the excellent Denver Museum of Natural History, the Denver Zoo, Colorado is an wonderful place to see animals.
There are some 4,000 animals representing over 700 species - located in naturalistic habitats such as the Tropical Discovery with the Komodo Dragon exhibit and the Primate Panorama. Unfortunately when I was there, the gorillas were indoors.
Denver Zoo has a master plan to change the zoo over the next years and is an excellent case of the modern zoo being more about conservation than exhibition. I definitely recommend this zoo.
