Hannover Zoo

I've been wanting to visit this zoo for such a long time and I finally got around to it on a dull, cold winters day. During the winter, there is no Sambezi boat trips but walking through the African part of the zoo is still excellent. Especially watching the huge hippos floating past the underwater windows is fascinating.
Jungle Palace features the Asian animals - elephants, tiger, etc. Unfortunately the gorillas were indoors and not out on Gorilla Mountain but the compensation was the baby gorilla!
Meyers Farm has everything a normal farm has - all the way down to the rats and mice. The fifth theme area is in the planning - Yukon Bay - where polar animals will be exhibited. At the moment the penguins and sealions are kept in small enclosures, so Yukon Bay will be a excellent expansion to the zoo. There was, however, one attraction at the old penguin enclosure: Pauly - a newly hatched jackass penguin. A cute bundle of fluff!
With plenty places to eat, everything - even the toilets - kept in theme and an excellent selection of animals, this is definitely an "Adventure Zoo".
