Alma Park Zoo

This is the closest zoo to Brisbane, and had been left to run down until new owners took it over a few years ago. They have tried to make improvements to the zoo, as/when they had the capital to do so.
Unfortunately, the whole zoo needed a total overhaul, and they have wisely chosen the worst exhibits for priority. Despite their efforts to date, it still has an air of neglect as far as enclosures are concerned. It also advertises itself as a botanical garden, and this would be its strongest point -- no complaints here.
It is a hodge podge collection of all sorts of animals - Australian natives, farmyard animals and foreign species, scattered through a lush tree filled site, backing on to a lake. The best enclosure I felt was for the Sun bears, it is even better than Wellingtons current Sunbear enclosure.
The hefty admission fee would put alot of people off visiting (I wouldn't go back again with that same admission fee)
Apparently the whole zoo is up for sale. There is potential here to have a good zoo, but alot of work is still desperately needed.
